SRDC is eager to discuss our pathway to ownership with interested, motivated and proven retail employees. Experience in running retail is not a prerequisit, however, a sincere interest in personal fitness and a commitment to excellent customer service is an absolute requirement. The journey to store ownership has three defined sections:
1. Interview process which includes travel to Fleet Feet Inc. headquarters
2. Employment at a Fleet Feet Sports store owned by SRDC.
3. Promotion to Equity Operator position running one of the SRDC stores.
Becoming an Equity Operator is a big step and it is necessary to work in one of the SRDC stores for a period of time to gain hands on experience in the store. Equity Operators are responsible for hiring, training, retaining employees, purchasing and managing inventory, vendor relations, customer acquisition and implementing best practices in the store. Back office services, including but not limited to payroll, payables, state and local filings, tax reporting and financial oversight will be performed by SRDC. Equity Operators have the authority and responsibility of a store owner.
Equity Operators are paid a salary based on the store size and their retail experience. Other benefits include health insurance and prescription coverage and PTO. After their first year, Equity Operators are also eligible for an annual bonus program.
At the end of an Equity Operator's fourth year he/she has an opportunity to purchase the store from SRDC. The Equity Operator's purchase price for the store is calculated by adding the operating value of the store determined during SRDC first year of ownership, plus the wholesale value of current inventory, plus capital improvements made to store by SRDC. If the store has been well managed by the Equity Operator, will be buying a very successfuly store at a significant discount. The increased value he/she has created through his/her hard work will be passed on.
